Amur Maple - Acer ginnala
The Amur maple leafs out in early spring, is easy to transplant, is relatively pest free and casts dense shade.
Nikko Maple - Acer nikoense
Hardiness Zones: 5-7, deciduous, growth rate: slow, site requirements: Sun; prefers well drained soil. Form: Vase shaped. Easy to transplant; relatively pest free; good fall color.
Bigleaf Maple - Acer macrophyllum
Also called Broadleaf Maple and Oregon Maple. The Bigleaf Maple is an excellent shade tree when grown in a large enough location with ample watering. The wood has been used to make piano frames and the tree can be tapped for maple syrup.
Norway Maple - Acer platanoides

3-7, deciduous, growth rate: moderate, site requirements: Sun; wide range of soil types; tolerates hot dry conditions. Dense rounded symmetrical crown. Introduced to the US in 1756 the Norway Maple is native to Europe.
Bigtooth Maple - Acer grandidentatum
This is a very good tree that should be used much more in the landscape, especially now that a grafted cultivar is available. It is tolerant of our soil and climatic conditions, and even appears to withstand some drought when planted in the valleys. Fall color is usually very good.
Painted Maple - Acer truncatum ssp. pmono
Hardiness Zones:  5-8, growth rate: rapid, site requirements: sun; well drained soil, form: rounded to vase shaped; spreading. Height: 30 to 40ft. New leaves are bronze; bright green in summer and resistant to sunburn; bright gold with crimson fall color.

Paperbark Maple - Acer griseum
Hardiness Zones: 4-8, growth rate: slow, site requirements: sun to partial shade; prefers moist, well drained soil but will grow in a variety of soil types. Not drought tolerant. Form: upright; oval to rounded; becomes twiggy inside. Height: 20 to 30ft.
Canyon Maple - Acer grandidentatum
Native from southern Idaho south to Mexico and east to Texas, including much of Utah in mountainous locations. This is the common maple that gives Logan Canyon and some other northern Utah locations their outstanding fall color.
Purple blow Maple - Acer truncatum

Coliseum Maple - Acer cappadocicum
Growth Rate is considered rapid. Site Requirements: Sun; wide range of soil types. Form: rounded; spreading. Height: 25 to 30', Width: 20 to 25'.
Redvein Maple - Acer rufinerve
