The Snakebark Maple Tree

This tree grows in zones 5-7, it is deciduous, it loses it's leaves every year in the fall then grows new leaves in the spring. Snakebark maple site requirements: sun; range of soil types all except damp to wet sites.

Texture: Medium, form: upright to rounded, height: 30 to 40 ft, width of 20 to 30 ft. Leaf: 2. 5 to 6" simple, opposite leaves with 3 lobes; deep green in summer; yellow to gold with crimson toned fall color.
 
The snakebark maple is relatively short lived; young bark is green with white stripes.
